Rolwaling trek -- 17 days
Rolwaling Valley is the land of the Tamang and Sherpa people who are Buddhist. The valley's communities have a romantic story about Yeti (snowman) that you can share with them here. This valley is renowned for both Hindu and Buddhist Mythology.

Hindu Mythology

Demons poured poison into the Ganga River many years ago. When people drank the water, many died. People prayed to Shiva to purify the water of the Ganga river. At that time, Shiva and Parvati had recently married and were visiting the Rolwaling mountainside. In response to requests from the people, Shiva thrust his trident into the mountainside to let the pure waters cascade down to the river. Then Shiva poured oil upon the troubled waters. Hindu pilgrims believe that the Ganga is a holy river. At the spot where Shiva thrust his trident, one can see floodwaters that burst out of the rock wall and flow to the east bank of the Bhote Kosi River. Rolwaling has become a famous pilgrimage place for the Hindu.

There is a small cave that was used by Guru Remporche for meditation some 1200 years ago. This place offers one the opportunity to see Buddhist culture as well as splendid views of Mt. Gauri Shanker (7134m) with panoramic view of Rolwaling Himal's major peak.
